Remodelling Isn't Always the Answer
Some pieces are better restored than rebuilt. Where a piece is too frail to wear but you'd like to keep it close to its original form, we've overlaid, inlaid, protected and restored it instead of starting again. We'll tell you honestly which your piece needs — and it's often the simpler, less expensive option.

Bring your piece in. We assess the metal and stones and tell you honestly whether to restore or remodel.
2. Sketching / Design
We sketch options that reuse what’s usable and replace only what needs it.
3. Remake
Your piece is remade in-house, with old metal recycled wherever possible.

Before You Book
Can you reuse my existing gold and stones?
In most cases, yes. We assess what can be reused as-is, what needs to be recut or reworked, and what’s better replaced — and we’ll explain the reasoning for each.
You may have old gems, which have commercially little value but HUGE sentimental meaning, and at Jewellery Design Studio we appreciate that. Your memories are priceless and at Jewellery Design Studio we treat them as such.
What if my piece is very worn or damaged?
That’s usually where restoration comes in rather than a full remodel. We’ll let you know if your piece can be protected and repaired instead of remade.
Will I need a new valuation afterwards?
Yes — once a piece is remodelled its form has changed, so we recommend a new registered valuation for insurance purposes. We can arrange this for you.
How does the cost compare to buying something new?
It depends on how much of your existing metal and stones can be reused, but remodelling is often more affordable than starting from new materials, on top of the sentimental value of keeping what you already have.
How long does remodelling take?
Most remodelling projects take a similar timeframe to a new custom piece — we’ll give you an estimate at your assessment once we know the scope of work.
